12 YEARS!!!

September 11th is a very sad day.
Many innocent people lost their lives, loved ones and homes.
This day will never be forgotten.
The heros will never be forgotten.
Although September 11th is a sad day, it is also a very happy day for my husband and I.
On September 11, 1999 my husband and I vowed to love one another forever. We vowed to be there for one another through thick and thin and we have done just that. 12 years ago I married the love of my life and I still feel the same way I did back then. We have definitely been through the thick and the thin, but we both know that we always have that one person that we can turn to, tell everything to and always count on. I’m not sure where I would be today had I not taken those vows 12 years ago. I can tell you this though, I don’t ever want to think about it because I love being right here, right now with my beautiful family.
12 years later and we are parents to 5 beautiful boys. I never would have guessed that my life would have taken the direction it has, but I couldn’t be more pleased with it. God really does have a plan for us all, and although it isn’t always what we envision in the beginning, if we pay close attention there is always a reason for everything.
Not only did we celebrate our anniversary over the weekend, but we also had a birthday party! Since one of our boys turned 6 on Aug. 31st and one is turning 11 on Sept. 20, we decided to have one big birthday party for both of them together. They had 2 cakes, lots of ice cream, a pinata, and a ton of fun!
Today was spent trying to get a little rest after that busy weekend.
I did manage to bake a couple of loafs of zucchini bread with the boys though.

It was very yummy!

I found the recipe online.

~*~Zucchini Bread~*~

3 eggs

1 c. oil
2 c. grated zucchini
3 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
2 c. sugar
3 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. baking powder
3-4 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. chopped nuts (Since I don’t like to give the little ones nuts we didn’t put nuts in.)

Beat eggs until light in color and creamy. Add oil, sugar, zucchini and vanilla. Mix lightly but well. Mix flour, baking soda and powder and spices together. Add to egg mixture and blend well. Add nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour. Grease and flour two 9 x 5 inch loaf pans.

And before we go I must share today’s funny story…
My 3 year old jumps over the couch and into the window behind the couch. He starts hitting the curtain with a spoon (Yes, I said a spoon.) I look at him puzzled and tell him to hop out of the window and quit hitting the curtain with the spoon. He doesn’t miss a beat, looks at me and so seriously says, “Mom, it’s recess and I’m playing on the monkey bars!” (I’m still shaking my head…)
