3 Tasty Brown Rice Recipes

Savory Succotash With Brown Rice
This isn’t a traditional succotash. It’s close to being traditional, but it has some delicious differences. This colorful dish is filling, tasty and will keep you going back for more. There are no specific amounts listed for each ingredient. This dish is designed to work with your preferences. Add more or less of the ingredients as you see fit.
Ingredients that you need:
Zucchini, Tomatoes, Onions, Sweet Peppers, Brown Rice, Salt to taste, Nutritional yeast to taste, 1.5 tablespoons of vegetable oil
How to prepare:
Start by cooking your rice. It is easily prepared in a rice cooker. If you don’t have a rice cooker, then follow standard directions.
Chop up the vegetables into medium-sized segments. Put them in the pot with the cooked rice. Add the vegetable oil and toss the vegetables.
Add about a quarter cup of water to the vegetables. You may need more or less depending on your portion size.
Cover the pot and let it cook. Stir every so often to make sure the vegetables don’t stick to the pot.
When they are nearly ready, add the rice and nutritional yeast. Mix the ingredients thoroughly. Add salt to taste. Allow the flavors to seep into the rice. Serve hot or save to reheat later.
Rice & Edamame
This simple but protein-packed meal makes a perfect lunch. Edamame adds extra protein and fiber, and rice gives you carbohydrates and other vitamins.
Ingredients you need:
1 cup of brown rice, 1/2 cup of edamame, Salt to taste, A dash of low-sodium soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
Prepare the rice in a rice cooker with shelled edamame. Add the salt and vegetable oil. Toss in a dash of soy sauce. Add more or less depending on your preference. Cook and serve immediately.
Mexican Rice
This fiesta-inspired dish is delicious and full of nutrients. It’s also simple to make.
Ingredients that you need:
1 cup of brown rice, 1 can of tomato sauce, A dash of garlic, 1 small onion chopped finely
Cook your rice in a rice cooker following the directions. When it is finished, add the tomato sauce and garlic. Add the onions too. Cook in a pot until the excess liquid is absorbed. You can also add jalapenos to make it spicy, or extra oil and salt to make it more savory. This recipe is as simple and nutritious as brown rice gets.
