Kids grow up so fast! Before you know it they are grown and gone! Even so, we just don’t realize it soon enough, and let important moments go by. Often work, stress and financial problems keep us from spending quality time with our kids; keep us from enjoying them as much as we can. It’s time to stop, slow down, pay attention to whats going on around us, and do everything possible to enjoy our kids, spend time with them frolicking, laughing and really having fun. An important part of spending time together is finding fun things to do, no matter what the season.
Unfortunately, most families think spring and summer are the only seasons you can really enjoy participating in outdoor activities with the kids, when in reality, fall can also be a great time for special family-time weekends.
Here are just a few ideas on great things you can do with your family during the fall.
1 – Enjoy the Orchards
If you live in the north you might want to enjoy a day in one of the nearby apple orchards. Many growers allow you to walk through the sweet-smelling apple trees and pick your own apples. Seasons vary throughout the nation, but generally start in August and end by late November.
2 – Go on a Leaf Hunt Hike
Fall is the season where all the leaves light-up and change colors. Go for long walks and find the wonderfully colored leaves. Pack a picnic and head out to the largest state park, enjoy the trees, the cooler weather and take some great fall family pics. Be sure to bring lots of those leaves back to make garlands and fall wreaths (another family weekend project).
3 – Go on a Pumpkin Hunt
No! I’m not talking about heading over to the grocery store to pick up the pumpkin, but instead look for a pumpkin farm. Often, the farms have hay rides, special games and fun pumpkin carving contests. It’s a great opportunity to spend time with the family and enjoy a cool farm day. Imagine what those great photos will look like when you start looking for a great canvas print photo shop to create a large print of a photo or two of this special day.
4 – The Famous Corn Maze
Head out to the country and look for one of the fun corn mazes. Farmers charge a few dollars for you to run through the maze looking for the way out. It’s so much fun! You’ll all be rolling around, laughing and giggling. You can even hold contests; mom and brother versus dad and sister.
5 – The Autumn Adventure
Fall hiking, camping and kayaking are always great fun. They make for wonderful fall family outings that are inexpensive and can be done in just a day or two. Fall is the perfect time to spend an entire day or weekend outdoors.
Spending time together doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune. In fact, some of the best family fun activities are free (or very inexpensive). Get out of the house, get the kids away from the video games and spend a day getting fresh air and exercise. Oh and don’t forget! Take those great memorable photographs of all the wonderful times you have.
