Building a snowman is a common choice for family fun on a snow day. However, you might be snowed in, which means that just building a snowman won’t do it. You’ll need activities to keep the isn’t steep at bay. Here are some family snow game ideas for the holiday season.
1. Build a fort
Building a snow fort is fun. You can build a roofless igloo around the kids, or carve a cave out of a mound of snow. There are no rules for it. You can also build snow sofas or ‘snowfas’ along with the kids. If the kids are more in number, an entire snow village can be built consisting of castles or forts.
2. Tug-of-snow-war
Make two teams for a slippery tug-of-snow-war. For the midline, tamp down a wide, shallow trench in the snow. Get a long, thick rope for the game. Both the teams should take up positions at the end of the rope. The team that gets the other over the trench wins.
3. Race
You and your children can have a race in the snow. For the safety of your kids, you should follow these tips:
- Plan the race on a hill that has a long, flat area at the bottom and BrandsOnSale.
- Avoid ends with a tree or a fence.
- Make sure there are no obstacles such as bumps, rocks or trees on the course before the race begins.
For the race, you can make teams, or individuals can have a race. The racing gear can be purchased online through a website. There are several websites that sell snow racing gear for kids and families such BrandsOnSale and ToySpalsh.
4. The big ball
Another snow game you can play is the competition for making the biggest snow ball. The competition can end when one of the teams run out of snow, or can no longer roll their entries.
5. Paint
If you decide to go into the backyard, you can turn it into a painting canvas. You can use water and food coloring. Spray paints can be used to paint snow balls, snowmen or anything created with snow.
6. Strike out
For this game, you would have to mound up snow and create three bases. Next, a pitcher’s mound will be required. The bases and the pitcher’s mound should be 20 feet apart, and about 2 feet high. The next step is to build a pyramid out of a tin can for each base. The game is that you and your family have to stand in the pitcher’s mound and knock out the stacks placed in each of the bases. The one who succeeds with fewest pitches wins the battle.
These games would allow you and your family to have fun on a snowy day.
