I don’t know about you, but laundry is one of my least favorite things to do. Ok, cleaning the bathrooms may be the thing I dread the most, but the laundry certainly ranks up there among things I’d rather avoid and just not do. But, they must get done and so I have been testing different methods over the years to find something that will work for everyone in the family. Something that will keep me somewhat caught up on laundry and not feeling drained.
What are my Genius Laundry Tricks?
1.) Put a hamper in everyone’s room. Also, put an additional hamper in the laundry room and the bathroom. This way, no matter where they are, they always have a place to put their dirty clothes. It definitely helps keep the clean and dirty clothing separated and it lets me know how much laundry I have to do.
2.) Do one hamper at a time. I know that sounds silly to some, but if you pick a hamper and you wash those clothes all at once, when they come out you can hand them off to that particular person in the family and they can put their clothing in their own room. It makes for less sorting, which is often good when you have a lot of socks and underwear too!
3.) Fold and put laundry away right away. I know it is a task we often like to put off, however you will feel so accomplished and have more energy if you do it right away. Waiting only prolongs things and sometimes can set you back day. s
4.) Hang towels to dry. I know this won’t work for everyone, but hanging towels to dry can free up dryer space and allows you to wash/dry more clothing faster.
5.) Wash socks in Mesh Laundry Bags to keep them together. This has been huge for us! We always had a basket of unmatched socks before starting this method.
6.) If you accidentally leave the clothes in the washer a little too long you can add a couple drops of essential oil (like lemon) to your rinse cycle to freshen the clothes. It will save you from having to re-wash with soap again.
