What would you do with an extra $2,000 dollars a year?… New laptop? Flat-screen? It seems like a joke, right? Well it’s totally possible when you shop ALDI. The average family of four saves about $2,000 simply by shopping at ALDI, as compared to a traditional grocer.
The “ALDI One Week Challenge” has been launched. You are encouraged to shop ALDI for one week, then shop the “other guy” for one week. After you’ve shopped both stores, compare the receipts (and the savings).
The above information was sent to me by a representative with ALDI.
I was given two $25 Gift Certificates to use at our local ALDI store and to take the “ALDI One Week Challenge.”
I have to say that some of the products at ALDI are priced great! However, there were other products that were “ok” priced. The grocery store that I typically shop at has a program with a rewards card and I get discounts on my groceries. When I shop at my regular grocery store I typically spend about $175 a week and I have 2 FULL shopping carts! (Yes, I have to take another person to the store with me just to push that extra cart!) We shopped at ALDI, and my husband and I both went so we would each have a cart. We did not fill both carts, and spent about $122. I would have to say that I got a little more for my money at my regular grocery store because of the products that I purchased, however I wouldn’t mind shopping at ALDI for some of the items that I regularly buy.
ALDI has a great produce section and their produce seems to always be quite fresh, as opposed to some of the other local grocery stores I have shopped at. Snacks are very reasonably priced at ALDI as well. I don’t like to purchase a ton of snacks and when you walk into ALDI stores that is the first thing you see, a whole isle full of snacks! My kids love it and so does my husband, but I feel like our cart is half-full of snacks before we ever reach the “good stuff.”
I guess this is a good selling point for ALDI, however not necessarily for my family.
I have to admit though that since my husband and a couple of my boys were with us on this particular grocery trip I probably got more snacks and less of the “good stuff” that I would normally buy. Had I gone to the store by myself I probably could have saved myself a little more cash, and got a little more for my money. All in all the shopping trip was not a bad trip and I would definitely visit my local ALDI store again.
How would you like to take the “ALDI One Week Challenge?”
