And Then There Was Light

Today we installed lighting at the investment property. You would think this was something small, but I always get so excited when we get to the lighting. Number one, this means that we are one step closer to having the house complete and the other reason is that I simply love to pick out lighting. I love seeing how things come together.

The lighting above was placed at the top of the stairs leading up to a large open bedroom. It’s just sort of above your head as you walk up the steps. It’s not real noticeable until you actually get up the stairs, however I think it definitely gives the upstairs a nice look.

I apologize for the quality of the above photo. This was taken with my cell phone and I just could not get it to focus on the light properly while it was turned on. I think you can get the idea though. I liked this light so much I placed it in two different rooms!

Do you get excited about little touches like curtains and lighting?

Or is it just me?

Wow, I really like both of these lights. Lighting can really make the home. I love shopping for lights.

Thanks Jessica! I love shopping for lights—it’s one of my favorite things to pick out! I’m a bargain shopper though, so I have to find the coolest lights at the lowest prices! haha! ๐Ÿ™‚

I am such a lighting freak! I lost so many tiffany lamps (copies, but nice) when my house burnt down. The first thing I did in my new home was put in new kitchen and dining room lighting. I can spend hours looking at lights. I’m moving towards that industr al/steampunk light look…opps! And they are coming out with some awesome designs. I have a whole pinterest board dedicated to lighting.

We live in a house that was built in the 1960’s, so when we moved in, everything needed updated. The lighting was one of my favorite parts to change!

I really like that last light, too. One of the things I don’t like about our current home is the fact that it has hardly any overhead lighting! Who thought that was a good idea?? The kitchen & baths have overhead lights, & the living room has a small one. The bedrooms have none. You just don’t get enough light from lamps.

I’ve seen where my neighbors changed their lighting to something similar, and what a difference! Sometimes touches like this can stave off a remodel if done right!
