We had a bible study over the weekend. We discussed David and Goliath. Most of you know the story, but let’s re-cap just a bit. So, Goliath is this huge giant that everyone is intimidated by. He has never been defeated and then along comes little old David. I mean, can you imagine what people are thinking when David says that he is willing to fight the giant? I bet some of them even laughed.
But David didn’t care what others thought. He knew that he wasn’t fighting the giant alone and he wasn’t scared. With one tiny stone he was able to defeat the giant.
Now, think about your life. Think about the troubles you have and the storms that seem to come in just when things are starting to look good. How often do you find yourself trying to fight that battle alone? How often do you find yourself focusing on the problem over and over again?
And for what?
What if, instead of focusing on the problem, you were to focus on the solution?
What if, instead of immediately falling to your knees with defeat you were to ask for help?
What if, instead of looking at what can’t be done or how you can’t win, you focus on what you CAN do and how you CAN overcome the problem at hand?
Do me a favor, the next time you feel defeated and about to give up…remember that you can take on a giant with a little tiny stone as long as you ask for help. When we spend so much time focusing on the problem we are left with no energy to focus on the solution.
