That’s right, I got the “Bad Mom” award today. I’m usually fairly organized, however with all of the driving back and forth to and from school, the long weekend and everything in between I slipped. Yes, I’m human just like the rest of you, and I made a mistake.
What did I do?
We woke to a very foggy morning.
I was determined to turn this gloomy day into a good one, so we turned on the Christian tunes on the radio and had a nice breakfast. I let my 4 year old and 2 year old sleep in since Daddy was going to take the older boys to school and I was able to stay home. However, shortly after getting the older boys up our 4 year old came sliding down the steps (yes, sliding). I fed him breakfast and turned cartoons on for him. Today was going to be his first day of preschool, however he didn’t have class until the afternoon.
Daddy leaves to take the older boys to school and I start straightening up. It’s then that I realize that I don’t know exactly what time school starts. I knew it was in the afternoon, but wasn’t sure if it was at 11:15 or 12:15. When my husband arrives home from dropping the boys off at school I pick up the phone and call the school. The kind receptionist informs me that preschool starts at 8:15. WHAT? How did I miss this? It’s 8:30!
So, we rushed around and had them there by 9.
As our boys are getting ready for school this morning they notice something that I was hoping they wouldn’t see until lunch time. While putting their ice packs into their lunch bags one of the boys says, “Mom, why are there 2 Hershey Kisses in my lunch bag?” I simply stated…”Because I wanted to give you each a couple of kisses while you were at school.” My younger boys smiled, but my oldest son told me he was eating them on the way to school! He he! I think I might have embarrassed him.

So they had told you it was in the afternoon and it was at 8:15am? I don’t think you’re the one who’s disorganized….:)

In all honesty, I can’t remember being told a time at all. We sent the boys to a new school and the only paperwork I could find was about an extended care program for preschool. I guess I overlooked the extended care part and assumed it was the preschool schedule. It was my fault for not having asked sooner, but at least he was able to go to school and had a great first day. 🙂

This definitely sounds like something I would do too! It’s so easy to get busy and forget to check on those. lol When my son first started kindergarten I took him at 8:15. Apparently school started at 8:10. The worst part is that I done this for a whole week before my son told me he was late everyday. I said well my gosh, school started at 8:15 for me! I guess every school is not the same. haha! I felt like a complete fruit!
