Ban on Sidewalk Chalk…REALLY?

Who would have ever thought we would be sitting here discussing such a thing.

Really!?

A ban on sidewalk chalk?

What about hopscotch?

We played it when we were kids. No one ever complained that it made the neighborhood look tacky or distasteful. I for one would much rather my kids being coloring on my sidewalks and playing hopscotch with sidewalk chalk then running up and down the streets wrecking havoc.

Does it really hurt to see a little color on the sidewalk?

What if it is MY driveway that I paid to have put in? Do I still have to follow the rules that they are wanting to enforce? Silly—just silly !

What do you think?

Should there be a ban on sidewalk chalk?

They seem to think so in Colorado.

Who would have ever thought we would be discussing a ban on sidewalk chalk?

I think it’s silly too! We lived in an apartment complex for quite some time and the kids there were not allowed to use sidewalk chalk either. They had pretty much the same reasons, said it made the place look bad. I finally made a deal with the property manager… If my kids could play with it I’d be happy to scrub it off when they were finished!

The things that people think of these days just amaze me. I guess if the child were drawing in YOUR driveway maybe it would be ok for you to complain, but if they are drawing in their own driveway, really what is it hurting? Just my opinion, but my children will continue to get creative on our sidewalks. Sorry neighbors! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I think a lot of men over the age of 60 are behind this. Something happens when you get old . . . you forget how to be young. My girls LOVE playing with the chalk and water and making paint and I think it is fabulous. ARREST ME but we will not STOP ๐Ÿ™‚

I have to agree, it’s silly and yes, we know many people that have gotten “cranky” with age. Although, I still haven’t figured out how a few little chalk drawings on someone else property could hurt? You know? My children love playing with chalk and paint too! ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh man, that stinks!!! The people who dislike the way the chalk makes the place look are probably the same ones who sit and complain that all kids do is play video games these days and they need to get out more!! I say let the kids be kids and play with chalk =)
