One thing that I really want to instill in my children is reading. I have a real love for reading, although I don’t always find the time to sit down with a good book, but I want my children to have a love for reading as well. It’s important that children start being read to and read at an early age. When we received the Travels with Gannon and Wyatt series our boys were excited to get started on them. I sat down and read one of the books to all of the children and a couple of our middle aged boys sat down and read the books themselves and out loud to the younger boys. I enjoyed seeing and listening to this. It melts my heart to see my children having fun together, especially when it involves something such as reading.
The Travels with Gannon and Wyatt series, written by Patti Wheeler & Keith Hemstreet, includes:
Botswana (released in May of 2013)
Great Bear Rainforest (released in October of 2013)
Egypt (which will be released in January of 2014)
One of our boys said his favorite book from the series was the Great Bear Rainforest. The book is written in a way that is easy for children to relate. From the moment we picked up this book and started to read we were engaged and interested. At the beginning of the book a boy, Gannon is sort of complaining about chores and homework (just like my boys would do, so they could totally relate and found this to be funny!) After bit Gannon found himself being sidetracked from his chores as he receives a phone call from a long time family friend requesting that his family go on a trip (a great adventure) with him. They were going to the Great Bear Rainforest. I don’t want to give too much of the book away, but do recommend it as a good read for young children. My 8 and 10 year old boys really enjoyed reading these books themselves and our 3 and 5 year old boys enjoyed listening to the books being read to them.
Be sure to check out the Travels with Gannon and Wyatt Facebook page because they are giving away THREE KINDLE FIRES during the month of November!
