Last Wed. was our youngest son’s birthday. Can you believe he’s 4 already!? This Tuesday our second born will be turning 11! The boys love going to the store to pick out their birthday presents and since Daddy was away on a business trip last week we ventured out today in search of the perfect gift.
The older 2 boys did not want to be in the photo. For whatever reason they do not like my photo opps (probably doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that I always have a camera in my hand and love to share my photos with the WORLD). 🙂
Our younger boys were on a mission to find that perfect gift! They knew exactly where they were going and they weren’t letting anything get in their way. We ended up with some pretty great gifts too (puzzles & LEGOS for our younger son).
How do you pick out birthday gifts for your children? Do you ask them what they want, surprise them or take them to the store like we do?

We have always surprised our kids. I listen carefully in the months before and try to pick up the thing they are most interested in. But I love the idea of taking them to the store and letting them pick their own thing! Do you set a price range or give them cash? It’s amazing how much more difficult surprising them has become as they get older!
