I haven’t really posted any updates on the baby in a while.
He will be 8 months on the 23rd. Crazy how fast time flies, right!?
It feels like just the other day I was telling you all that we were expecting again!
Our little man decided that he wasn’t going to be little long either.
He started rolling and army crawling by 3 months! He was crawling on his hands and knees by 5 months and has been into everything since! At 6 months he started pulling himself up to the furniture and now he is starting to let go and stand for a few minutes. I know that before long he is going to be running from me! I’m not ready for that yet, but I guess I really ought to hurry and get ready.
Lil man now has a tooth fully through and another that just popped through.
As you know I nurse and do not use a bottle at all.
I did use a Mimijumi bottle once or twice while I was in surgery having my kidney stones removed when baby was only 6 weeks old. I really don’t know what I would have done without this bottle!
If you nurse and are afraid baby won’t take another bottle, or just want something as close to the breast as you could possibly get, then you should try this!
I had to make a trip to the doctor a couple of days ago. It was over the weekend, so I wasn’t able to see my family doctor. I felt silly going to the doctor, but was at the point that I wasn’t sure what to do. My baby had bit me while nursing. Not just a little bite, but a deep bite that was bleeding. I continued to nurse him (toes curled and teeth clenched) for 4 days. After the 4th day I decided that I had enough and that I may have an infection. (I wasn’t sure, but it seemed as though it could be getting infected.) I can deal with pain, but not infection, so off to the doc we went.
When we got to the doc I was asked to take my top, bra and all off and put a hospital gown on. I thought, how awkward will that be? So, I asked the nurse if I could just leave my clothes on b/c I had my Modest Middles tank on, which is a tank that leaves the breasts completely exposed so your belly is always covered when you nurse, but you can easily access your nursing bra. The doc comes into the room and is like, oh I’m going to need you to change. When I explained my tank and bra and stuff they were so impressed/amazed! ha ha! Isn’t it great what they have come up with to help us nursing mothers? I just wish I had this stuff back when I had my first!
Luckily for me, there was no infection, however the doc did say that it wouldn’t hurt to have a prescription for an antibiotic just in case mastitis were to occur since I did have the open sore.
Lots of lanolin, a breast shield (which my son absolutely refuses to nurse off of!) and less nursing on that side has really been helping. When I do nurse on that side I try to put him in different positions so that his little teeth don’t touch the sore. Ouch!
I have had several people ask why I don’t just quit nursing since I have hit a road bump.
I do know that some would quit, and that is fine for them I guess, but I feel like my baby needs this, and although I’m in pain I do know that it will get better. My husband says I’m a warrior having dealt with mastitis, thrush and now sores so many times, however I just feel like a mother doing what I feel is right for my baby. (I’m not saying that any other way is not right, but I feel like this is right for me and my baby.)
