We have been cloth diapering for a couple of months now and I am addicted! I admit it! I look at the cute new prints all of the companies are coming out with and I want to buy them all! I have refrained from spending our entire paycheck on diapers though. I will continue to try different diapers so I can tell you all just exactly what I think of them.
(This pic is about a month old, but what is a cloth diaper post without an adorable pic of baby in cloth? he he!)
I would love to hear what your favorite diapers are!
We have a lot of favorites, but as far as diaper types I really love Pockets and AIO or AI2s. I like the convenience and that they aren’t real bulky. I know a lot of people prefer snaps because they can be adjusted very small and very large, however I really like the velcro for it’s convenience. I do hear that a lot of people complain of the velcro wearing out faster, however we have not experienced this yet since we have only been using cloth for a few months.
I have had some issues with my washing. I think my laundry routine was the most confusing thing of the whole cloth diapering. If there was some sort of instruction manual that just worked for everyone that would be great, however there is not, and what works for one doesn’t always work for the next.
I did read a great tip online today that I plan to try. I have not tried this yet, but it makes complete sense to me, so I wanted to share it with you all.
TIP:
If you have an HE washing machine it is sometimes hard to get your diapers good and clean because the washer sort of weighs the clothing and only puts in enough water according to what the items weigh. This is great when doing your regular wash, but not so great with cloth diapers since they tend to soak up and hold a lot of water, therefore not leaving a lot of extra water to rinse them and get them good and clean. Try soaking your diapers in a bucket or tub of water prior to adding them to the washer. (You can do this at night before you go to bed and then wash in the morning.) This will give them a little extra soaking/water and will also make them weigh more, so your washing machine will give you more water!
