Contacts

Do you wear contacts? Do your children wear contacts? At what age did you allow your child to start wearing contacts? This is something that my husband and I tossed up for quite some time. Our oldest son wanted contacts for years, and some of his classmates had them for years, however when he first started asking, I just didn’t feel he was quite ready.

Earlier this year when we took him to his yearly eye appointment the Optometrist informed us that they may help him. He was continuously bending or breaking his glasses while wrestling around, so I thought, why not? Another concern of mine was the price and inconvenience of having to go to the store every time we needed new contacts. That was until I heard about 1-800-CONTACTS. Now this, excites me because as a Mom of 5, I love shopping from the comfort and convenience of my home. It’s just so much easier! I know it sounds like a phone number, and it is, however they have online shopping, www.1800contacts.com! That’s right—easy! My favorite part is that they offer Free Shipping on products over $50, and since I like to purchase 6 months worth of contacts at a time, I never have to pay shipping! Find a lower price somewhere else? They offer a price match guarantee as well!

Our son has become a pro at putting his contacts in. To be honest, I don’t know how he does it so fast! I don’t wear contacts myself, and neither does my husband, so it was a bit hard for us to teach him. Luckily he was determined and is a fast learner. Now when he is playing baseball, or even just wrestling around with his brothers, we don’t have to worry about his glasses getting broken, bent or even hurting him. Contacts have really helped our son all around.

What are your thoughts on children wearing contacts?

Drew still doesn’t put his contacts in by himself. He has narrow eyes and long eyelashes which are both a real challenge for him. Luckily Mom has become a pro at putting them in and out!!!

Definitely good that you can do it b/c we got frustrated when I was trying to help. He’s a little older (almost 12) and was determined to do it himself! lol
