The holidays are a wonderful time of the year, however one thing that can often come along with the holidays is some added stress. Sometimes we don’t even realize we are stressing our bodies, until we start to feel really tired and rundown. While we want to rush around to all of our get togethers, purchase gifts for all of our loved ones, and accomplish a lot, in very little time, it often takes a toll on our bodies.
When my husband was younger (just out of high school), while working in a lumber yard, he was injured on-site. He was young and tough and didn’t really get it taken care of. Over the years he would feel some strains and pains, and he often had problems with his sciatica, but he was always able to manage. It wasn’t until years later that he finally couldn’t take it any longer and had to see a doctor.
You see, we were flipping our first property and I had left for a bit. When I came back to the property, he was lying flat on the floor (upstairs). I still have no idea how I ever managed to get him down those stairs. The poor man couldn’t even get up off of the floor on his own!
How did this happen? He simply dropped a paintbrush on the floor and while bending over to pick it up, he threw his back out. This was some of the most excruciating pains he had ever felt, and he knew that this time he was not going to be able to shake it off and move on. That’s when we decided to get him to the doctor. The doctor did x-rays and referred us to a surgeon. It turns out that he had bulging and herniated discs in his lower back. We were told there was no option other than surgery. Talk about being scared—I was scared!
So, I went to Facebook and started asking friends and family members who they would recommend for surgery. I was quite surprised when one of our family members recommended we see a chiropractor. She said that her husband had been dealing with the exact same problem, just a few years earlier, and that the chiropractor she was recommending had done a phenomenal job at alleviating her husband’s aches and pains and helping him to get back to normal again. We figured we had nothing to lose, I mean, we were about to have him go under the knife, so why not give it a try, right?
We were so glad we listened and gave the chiropractor a call! Not only did he straighten him out and get him back to work in no time, but he also gave him pointers on how to keep from getting the back and neck pains he had dealt with for so many years.

This is good information. I think people often are doing activities and possibly not as careful as normal during the holidays, or just doing more of whatever, and it sets something off. It is good to avoid surgery if possible, and definitely not worth rushing into, unless there is a compelling reason to not wait. Having something happen unexpectedly and for no apparent reason can be shocking, then to get bad news on top of it, can be very alarming.

I have been dealing with back pain for years and these are great tips. Though I would be careful when it comes to chiropractors. I am very glad your husband got relief! Any long term problems if you can go to a physical therapy.
