Raising 5 boys I learn new things every day.
Take today for instance…we are driving to town and while in the vehicle my 5 year old says, “Hey Mom, I know how to make a rock band.”
I say, really buddy? How is that?
He says, “You take a rock and a stick and your rub them together and rock out!”
Well silly me! How did I go all of these years without knowing that?
Yesterday my 7 year old comes home from school and says…
“Mom, Dad, I need a girlfriend!”
We both look at each other with a surprised look on our faces and he says…
“I need someone to entertain me.”
Now we are looking at one another with surprised faces and mouths dropped to the ground. But, before we even have a chance to say anything else he says…
“What? I know what entertain means!”
Should I be worried? lol
I took the little 2 to the doctor today, the baby for his 8 month well check and our 2 year old for being sick. Turns out our 2 year old has a red ear and Bronchitis. The baby, who I actually hadn’t even realized was sick (he just started showing signs today!) has low grade pneumonia!
We had to rush around today because all of my appointments were back to back. As soon as we got out of the doctor’s office we had to head over to the school to pick up their 5 year old brother from pre-K. While at the school I decided to pick the older boys up as well because we heard there was a chance of bad thunderstorms that could produce hail and possibly even tornadoes! I didn’t want the boys riding the bus home if we were going to have tornadoes. They were surprised, but happy to see us. We go into the building to get them and it is starting to get a little dark and cooler, but not raining. My 5 year old comes out, still not raining. My 7 year old comes out, still not raining. Finally, my 10 year old comes out and by now it’s raining. As soon as we walk out the doors it starts to HAIL! That is just our luck! We head home to wait the storm out before going to pick up prescriptions in town. The storm passed fairly quickly, so we jump into the car and take off. We pass Daddy on his way home, so we turn around and head back home. He decides to go with us, so he hops in and off we go again. We get to the pharmacy and the drive-thru window is REALLY busy, and everyone knows they take forever anyway, so hubby goes in while I wait in the car with the boys (I would have went in, but my hair was a complete frizzy/wet/curly mess by now after being rained on earlier, so I let hubby do the honors.) Hubby calls me from inside the pharmacy to find out for sure who the prescriptions are for. I confirm, he calls back to tell me that he is waiting as they call the insurance company because it is not going through that this child has insurance (it’s our 2 year old.) Mind you, I’m waiting in the car with all 5 kids (2 of which are sick, and the rest who are just restless and hungry by now) so I’m wishing they would hurry up a bit! (No wonder the dogs in the car next to us are barking like crazy!) The insurance company tells the pharmacy that they have all of the correct info and that this child (who we have filled many of prescriptions for at this very pharmacy for in the past) is not covered on our insurance. So, our son needs his meds, and we need to get home, we pay full price (which is complete bull crap since we pay for insurance) and hubby decides to take it up with HR at work tomorrow.
Needless to say, it has been ONE OF THOSE DAYS….
