Do you use cloth?

I plan to post about our experiences cloth diapering as we go. 

Today is our 3rd day using cloth, and I love the way my baby’s little bum looks in them, however I am so darn confused and feel so overwhelmed sometimes. 

How hard could it be, right? 

I mean, you put a cute little diaper on, you fasten it and you go on, right? 

I have received so many different types of diapers that I honestly am overwhelmed. 

I can’t remember which diapers need covers and which diapers need inserts and so forth. 

I had all of the diapers in the packages they came in with instructions and all, but then I had to wash and prep all of these diapers and now the inserts are spread out and I’m just confused. 

And then I went to wash them…

My wonderful Mother prepped my diapers for me, so this was actually the first time I have had to wash my diapers (except the few I was using on my 2 year old son while he was potty training.)

 I have not gone out to purchase cloth diaper detergent yet because I am just so confused and don’t know which detergents to buy. I found a list of what is best online, however I keep hearing bad things about different kinds, but then I hear good things too,so I just don’t know what to use. I was hoping to get some samples before actually  jumping in and purchasing something. You know, try before you buy sort of thing. 🙂

What detergent do you use? 

Do you love it? 

Ever had any problems with it? 

I have an HE high tech washing machine and I normally just set it and go, but with cloth they say to do several different cycles and stuff and I’m not even sure how to do that on my machine. 

Yes, I have a lot going on right, and this is just making me even more confused. 

However, I love the cute little diapers and I’m not ready to give up!

Another issue I am having is that most of the diapers look really bulky on my baby. I don’t know if I’m putting too thick of an insert in or if it is because some of the diapers have to be snapped down or what, but they seem to be really bulky. 

We are also having issues with him peeing out of quite a few of the diapers…yikes! 

This doesn’t happen with all of them though. 

He actually pooped right out of one the other day, however I am thinking that maybe this diaper was not tight enough around the legs and I will tighten it more the next time he wears it. 

We are still learning and I would love to hear advice from other Moms who use cloth. 

Please tell me that you were in my shoes one day and were just as confused. 

I hate to think that I’m the only one who didn’t just get it right away. 

I mean, I get the whole diapering system, but there is so much more than just putting on and taking off the diaper.
