Have you heard of personal branding?
Let’s talk about it…
Have you ever thought about what others think of you?
I think we all have. I know I sure have. While I shouldn’t let it bother me, and really shouldn’t care, it has. As a matter of fact, I have actually worried about what someone thought of me so much that it has caused me much stress. Why do we do this to ourselves? I don’t really have an answer to this, however I will say that having a better impression of yourself often helps you to worry less about what others think of you.
Am I making sense?
Personal Branding is where YOU are the brand that you want others to be interested in.
Ok, so if you are constantly thinking unhappy thoughts of yourself you may tend to worry that others might be thinking unhappy thoughts about you as well.
Are you with me?
Now, let’s try thinking happy thoughts about ourselves.
You can do it.
Try to see yourself the way you want others to see you.
It feels good, doesn’t it?
One of my biggest tips of advice to people (especially stay-at-home parents who are sometimes shut off to the outside world) is to try not to seclude yourself. Try to get up every day, dress yourself nice (I’m not talking suit and tie or even dress clothes, but put the sweat pants away and put on some jeans and a nice top.) Brush your hair (and your teeth please) and maybe even put a little dab of makeup on.
So many people will tell me, why bother putting makeup on when no one is going to see me?
Well, you see you, right?
Think about this. If you look into the mirror and you see someone dressed in sweat pants with messy hair and looking like they just really don’t care because well, no one is looking, then how do you feel about yourself?
When you see THAT you, how do you feel about yourself?
I’m going to guess that you don’t feel pretty and you don’t feel positive.
I wouldn’t either.
So, why not take the little extra time to do something that makes YOU feel good about YOU?
Why not give yourself a good first impression of yourself?
For if you can’t love yourself, how do you expect others to?
Now that you are dressed and feeling better about yourself, are you so worried about what others think of you?
I didn’t think so!
Yay, we accomplished something wonderful and all we did was get dressed and smile.
Imagine what you can accomplish when you step out into the world!
Have a GREAT weekend!
