Don’t Procrastinate in 2013

Since I have been talking about my goals for 2013 I thought it might be nice to kick they year off with something a little different, let’s talk about Halloween! Yes, I said Halloween! Do you think I’m a little crazy right now? Well I’m not! You see, typically I am such a procrastinator that I’m running around at the last possible minute trying to find the perfect costumes for my boys, which in the end causes me more than just a headache, but also a thinner checkbook. Did you know that you spend a lot more on things when you wait until the last minute to buy them?

Easy Halloween Costumes for Babies and Toddlers

 

Even though Halloween is a tough holiday when you have little ones (explaining why they can’t have five pieces of chocolate in one night isn’t the easiest conversation to have!), it is also one of the most fun! It’s hard for kids to not look adorable in their costumes and if they are a little older, it’s fun to think up costume ideas together and see them get excited for the big day. Here are a few simple ideas that shouldn’t set you back a whole lot:

Pumpkin. One of the most popular “baby’s first Halloween” costumes is a pumpkin. There should be plenty of pre-made outfits available at local party stores, but if you’re late to the game or don’t want to spend a lot, an orange onesie and green socks can be a good place to start. You can cut out black triangles for eyes and mouth out of felt to go the extra step.

Princess or Ballerina. If your daughter is in ballet classes, you probably already have an outfit lying around that you can use. If not, any sort of leotard or tutu will do. For a ballerina, you can also pull her hair into a high bun with ribbons to complete the look.

Skeleton. It’s pretty easy to dress anyone in all black and then use white marker or tape to create the look of a skeleton. You may even be able to find stickers to use for bones too. A bonus with this costume is that your child can stay warm and comfortable as they trick-or-treat!

Another thought is to talk to other moms and see if they have any costumes saved from years past. Most kids won’t want to repeat a costume so swapping with others is a great way to find some new material so that everybody wins!
