It’s often hard to find family friendly movies that our whole family can watch together. It’s not often that I watch a movie and leave the room afterwards feeling like I want to do amazing things in life; like I want to go out into this big ol’ world and make a difference and help people. It’s not often that my whole family sits down to watch a movie and not one person gets up and leaves the room. It’s also not often that after watching a movie my boys FEEL and understand the message.
This movie was different.
Catching Faith isn’t like all of the other movies at your local video store. It’s powerful, entertaining, emotional and carries a message that all youth should be taught…about doing what’s right.
I don’t want to give too much away, but feel like I should definitely spend some time telling you about this amazing movie so that you can go see it for yourself.
Catching Faith is the story about a woman who seems to have it all. Her marriage is perfect, her daughter is at the top of her class, her son is the star of his football team, but things aren’t always as they appear from the outside.
The night that her father dies things begin to unravel. Her son is caught drinking at a party, which is in violation of the school’s behavior policy for athletes. The police know this family and they know the boy is the star of the football team, so rather than do what is right, they turn the other way. They are willing to allow the young athlete to continue to play in order to bring a victory to their hometown team. (What kind of lesson is this teaching the boy?)
The daughter (who has been performing at the top of her class) starts feeling pressure to become valedictorian. One class in particular has been giving her challenges and when the opportunity to cheat arises, she has a decision to make; be honest, or be victorious.
What’s even better is that the story is inspired by real life experiences.
This film is powerful! Don’t just take my word for it though, check out the trailer below.
