There is still time left to get more out of summer vacation. That’s right, school doesn’t start back up for a few more weeks (for most, and even longer for some).
We typically take one long vacation during the summer. This year we didn’t have the time nor the funds to do this, so we have split up our vacation days and are using them for mini weekend getaways. Not only are we enjoying the time spent together, but it feels like we are relaxing a lot more this year!
Earlier in the summer we took a small vacation to a waterpark in our home state. It was a bit of a drive, however very well worth it. We had a blast and the kids will be talking about it for years to come! Several weeks after our little waterpark vacation I found myself wishing we could have another mini get away. All I needed was a night away in some fancy hotel to rejuvenate myself. We did just that! We stayed in the Embassy Suites hotel in Kentucky. Not only did we have an amazing time, but while this was only an overnight stay, it is something my family will cherish forever. The hotel was great for our family of 7. They surprised us with a stocked refrigerator, snacks throughout our rooms (Yes, we had a 2 room suite!) and we even had passes for transportation in case we might like to sight see while on our trip. I know it sounds silly, but my absolute favorite part of the trip was the free cooked to order breakfast the next morning! Not only does a busy Mom of 5 boys love to have someone else cook for her, but she likes it even more when they ask what she wants first! (No PB&J made with loving dirty hands this time!) When we are planning our next trip, we will definitely be looking for someplace with an Embassy Suites close by! I have even started following them on Twitter and Facebook so I don’t miss out on any special deals!
How have you spent your vacation days this year?
