Keeping our family healthy is very important. It seems there are always germs flying around, and if we can keep the sicknesses in our house as limited as possible, we are sure going to try to!
LYSOL has a new idea, and it’s called “Healthing”. They would like to keep families as healthy as possible by looking beyond just cleaning and ensuring that the proper steps are taken to stay well. Do you know what extra steps you need to take in order to keep your family healthy?
Tips on incorporating “Healthing” into your cleaning routine…
1.) Don’t let spring cleaning overwhelm you. Take it one room at a time and stock up on products that will help you get the job done effectively, including LYSOL® products, paper towels, sponges and trash bags.
2.) Know the difference between cleaning and disinfection! Both are very important components of the “Healthing” process and LYSOL® has products that can help with all related tasks. Cleaning and organizing are definitely important, but killing germs on commonly touched surfaces around the house can lower the risk of spreading bacteria and viruses between members of the family.
3.) It doesn’t have to be overwhelming—start with the basics. Wipe down easy to reach surfaces first and then move onto the little nooks and crannies.
4.) Don’t forget to dust around wall art, photographs and woodwork. These places are sometimes overlooked.
5.) Use a disinfectant product, such as LYSOL® Disinfecting Wipes, to help ensure you are killing germs as you clean. Be sure to clean even the smallest surfaces, such as light switches.
6.) Don’t forget to disinfect places that you don’t see or think about often, like the door knobs, cabinet handles, sink drains and even your toilet handles.
7.) Make it a family activity and tailor tasks to specific age groups. Older children can do the more complex tasks, such as vacuuming, scrubbing, mopping and so forth, while the younger children can help pick up toys and dust.
8.) Always remember to stress the importance of proper hand washing to your family after cleaning. Be sure to use either soap and water or hand sanitizer for 20 seconds or longer each time. Hand washing is the single most important thing you can do to prevent illness, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Which of these tips resonate most with your family?
To help spread the word about “Healthing” LYSOL and the television star, Giuliana Rancic have partnered together and are visiting YMCAs in select markets across the country to demonstrate Healthing in action. At each YMCA location, LYSOL will provide those attending with hands-on education about the products and the steps that are required to practice improved hygiene habits inside their own homes. They are doing all of this, while making it fun and relatable for kids! LYSOL will also provide educational information and disinfection products to the local YMCAs along with the donation of a one-year membership to a deserving family!

When I was teaching preschool, we would regularly spray down the toilet seats with Lysol, then give them a quick wipe. We also sprayed the napping cots after each use. I am not a big “disinfector” now, but I do really like the Power and Free products that Lysol has for gross messes.
