Is your child interested in learning how to become better at hockey skating? If so, you are definitely going to want to read what we have to say! In this article, I will share some different techniques with you that your child can utilize to help improve their skills in this particular area.
The first thing you will want to do is make sure that your child has excellent quality the more they practice. This is very important as some brands are definitely better than others. Having excellent quality skates that also fit properly is crucial in helping your child excel at ice hockey skating.
Once your child is ready to begin hockey skating, make sure you tell them to keep their knees bent. Unless your knees are bent, it is quite hard to be able to skate quickly and powerfully which is essential to doing well in ice hockey. One way to ensure that your child is doing this properly is to tell them to pretend that they are sitting down in a chair. Just like when sitting in a chair, they will want to keep their upper body straight and their knees in a bent position.
You will want to be sure to tell your child to always keep his head up and looking forward whenever he is hockey skating. Doing this will not only the more they practice but it will also help to avoid unnecessary injuries. This may seem like a rather overwhelming task for your child whenever they are stick handling the puck. However, the more they practice this the easier it will become for them.
Proper skate maintenance is of the utmost importance. The reason for this is without proper maintenance, your child’s skates won’t work well. If your child’s skates aren’t working properly, that of course will unfortunately negatively effect your child’s ability to skate well. Be certain to keep your child’s skates properly sharpened. If you are unsure of what degree they should be sharpened to, just ask your child’s hockey coach. Their coach will let you know exactly what degree of sharpness is best for your child’s skates.

This is super cute! proper fit and sharpness are definitely very important. I don’t know how many times I have seen children have on the wrong size skate and watched their little ankles bow in. I played hockey on a boy/girl team when i was younger and not only loved it but would love for one of my children to get into it as much as i did. hasn’t happened so far!
