Every year I have a long list of people that I need to buy for during the holidays. Now most people would be super stressed when they look at that list, but I’m always trying to find more people to add to the list. You see, I’m a giver. I get that from my mother. She has such a kind heart and I have fond memories of my mother giving to others while I was a child. It didn’t matter if she only had $5 left in her wallet, if someone was in need, she was quick to give that $5 away. I love that about my mom and this is one characteristic of hers that I absolutely love to have inherited.

Our children are always watching everything we do. They see and hear us at all times. I keep this in mind, especially around the holidays when people will be giving and receiving gifts. While I may have a hard time accepting gifts, I get great joy out of giving gifts. The smile on someone’s face when they receive a gift (or even a nice gesture) is simply priceless.
Every year at Christmas time we look for strangers to buy gifts for. We want to teach our boys that receiving gifts is not what the holidays are all about. A couple of years ago we had the opportunity to bless a whole group of people when we donated a large lot of toys to a food bank. After wrapping and dropping off the toys one of our boys told us that he wished they could give toys to other kids on a regular basis. He stated that it made his heart feel good. You know, this made my heart feel good to hear that my boys were finding joy in giving to others. And so it has become a tradition for our family to give toys to less fortunate children during the holidays. It’s part of our regular routine and we find the money to do it no matter what our financial situation may be (and the money is always there).
This year we will be shopping at Family Christian Stores to fulfill the gifts of many on my long Christmas list. Family Christian has so many gifts to choose from. I sort of get lost on their site when I’m shopping. I find myself adding and adding to my cart, but not for myself…for others. This year I ordered a whole bunch of coffee mugs! So many of my friends love coffee and since we can’t always be together for a cup of coffee I thought I would give them a nice scripture as well as a little reminder of our time together each time they drink their coffee. Good friends and coffee go a long way, and Family Christian coffee mugs are really great!
If you are looking for a child’s or adult bible, games, crafts, toys, jewelry, home decor, christian apparel, music, videos, books…Family Christian has it all! And their prices are unbeatable! I am seriously impressed with the prices, but that’s not all that has me impressed…the customer service at Family Christian is really top notch! If ever you have been someplace where you felt really welcome and like the workers cared, THAT is exactly how I feel when I’m on the phone with Family Christian customer service. I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Family Christian Stores and I can’t say enough positive things about them!
Last year our younger boys were gifted a Little People Nativity Set. It is seriously cute to watch your child play with baby Jesus and quote scripture (what he can remember of it) while he’s playing. We noticed that Family Christian stores has the Little People Nativity sets for quite a bit lower price than most other stores. This would make an awesome gift for Christmas, or if you are like me, it’s something you like to set up every year before Christmas to decorate the house, but also allow children to play with! This gift is also perfect for every church nursery!
A few other great gifts we must mention are the God’s Not Dead Movie! If you have not yet seen this movie…What are you waiting for? It is a definite MUST-SEE, and you might even want to watch it over and over again—we did! God’s Not Dead is on SALE for just $17.99 at Family Christian! This is a great value!
We could go on and on about all of the great gifts at Family Christian, but we’ll let you check them out for yourself! But first, take a minute to enter to WIN a $25 Family Christian Gift Card so you can start your shopping!
