Homemade Playdough Recipe

doterra lemonWhen boredom sets in there’s always Play Dough! We thought we would share this super easy home made play dough recipe with you so that you can make some for your family as well!

Ingredients:

1 1/4 Cups Flour

1/4 Cup Salt

1/2 teaspoon (any color) food coloring —add more for more prominent color.

1 cup Boiling Water

1 1/2 tablespoon vegetable oil

5-10 drops of essential oil (for smell)

Directions:

Boil water–once boiling add the vegetable oil.

In a bowl mix flour, salt and food coloring.

Combine water/oil mix and flour mixture. (Remove from heat).

Knead together (Be careful–it will be HOT).

Add essential oil in (we used Lemon) and knead more.

Enjoy!

When finished be sure to store in an airtight container so it does not dry out.

    this sounds fun, and i love that you added the oil to this and I have often hear people say to add scented oil or something into that or food coloring for different colors.. Thanks for share

    i remember making this when i was young but there was no essentials oils back then..my mom was the brownie and girl scout leader and volunteered at school. i was in to art all thru school til 2nd yr of college.

    I am going to save this recipe and make it for when my granddaughter comes to visit. She loves playing with ‘dough’ and I love helping her make things. The addition of lemon oil sounds wonderful.

    This is so easy, and for a change doesn’t require buying ingredients you wouldn’t have on hand. Great for snowy days ahead!
