Boys will be boys, and let’s face it…with boys comes noise. (I should have totally put that as my tagline at the top of my page…maybe later). So, tonight as my boys are bouncing off the walls…literally, and I’m sitting here gritting my teeth and biting my tongue watching and listening, I thought it might be fun to write a post about some of the funny things my boys have said/done recently.
Here Goes…
While eating dinner the other night our 7 year old led us in prayer. Our 4 year old stood up quickly and said, “I’d like to add that we should pray for {Insert names of 2 children in his preschool classroom} because they have not been feeling well.” I love that he is thinking of others!
My birthday was earlier in the week (I don’t need reminded that I’m getting old, I see it every day when I look at my boys—I’m going to have a 13 year old this year—Yikes!) and the boys let me sleep in, sort of. When I woke up the older 2 boys were standing over me with a cup of coffee. They had made the coffee themselves and brought me a cup. They even took the liberty to add a packet of hot cocoa to it so it was a Mocha like I like to get when we go to a coffee shop. I love them!
Now, you have heard about how sweet they can be, but let me give you a little insight of what I hear most days….
“Are you ready to take flight?” THAT is never something a Mom of boys wants to hear! If you hear this RUN to them before their older brothers throw them from the top of the stairs or something!
“Just try it, I made it for you with love.” While that may sound innocent, it really is something that should be investigated. Any time a child makes something “with love” for another child, you should be worried.
“Go ahead, I’ll catch you, don’t be scared.” This should DEFINITELY scare YOU as a mother. Again, if you hear this…RUN!
“You try it first and then I’ll go.” This just means that I’m not sure if it’s going to work the way I have planned, so I’m going to test it out on you, but if you don’t get hurt and it’s fun, then I’m going to give it a try.
Those are just a few examples of the conversations I hear on a daily basis.
What about you, what do you hear when listening to your children?

Love this post! I could add a few about the teen age years, but I don’t want to scare you ๐
I will tell you my favorite recently. My *gasp* 18 year old is very witty some days. Loving that he can drive and help me with things, I sent him with a trailer and my credit card to get mulch. He sent me a picture message of my receipt from Ace. “MOM” was scrawled across the signature line in big childish letters. I still laugh when I think of that picture! Boys are fun somedays
