One of the best things I could have started with my family was our daily devotional time. This is a time that we all sit down together as a family in one room, read a devotional or favorite scripture, discuss it, pray together and enjoy the company of one another. These moments are so very special to me and I cherish them. When we do miss a devotional oftentimes one of our boys (even our youngest) will come to me with their little devotional and inform us that we missed devotion time. I love that this time is important to my boys.
We are raising little soldiers for Christ. I want my boys to know that God loves them and that He wants to hear from them. Jesus Calling 365 Devotions for Kids is the devotional book we are reading from at the time. I must say that while I have had my eye on this book for quite some time, I put off purchasing it. I’m a little disappointed at myself for not having purchased this book sooner. Not only is it a great read for my children, but it also really touches my husband and I.
I chose a random page from the book to share a piece of it with you.
Waiting to Help
When you choose not to trust Me, it hurts My heart and I grieve.
It hurts Me to see you struggle alone with problems, when I am just waiting to help you. It saddens Me to see you blindly walking through your day, not even noticing the blessings I have provided for you. And it grieves Me to see you ignore My loving Presence all around you.
Jesus Calling 365 Devotions for kids is based on the original best-selling book, Jesus Calling, however this version has been changed to fit children and even tweens so that it relates to their everyday lives. I love that the devotions are written as if Jesus is speaking directly to the person reading the book.
While this book is recommended for ages 8 and up, our while family enjoys it. Our 4 year old often comes into the room with Jesus Calling 365 Devotions for Kids in his hand eager to climb up on my husband or my lap so he can hear his daily devotion.
We have great news!
