I purchased a Dell Laptop almost a year ago. It will be one year at the end of this month. I paid almost $700 for this laptop and the boys knocked it off of the desk and cracked a little piece in it. We used it for quite some time after that, but it always had to stay plugged in. Just recently the laptop quit working all together. I called Dell and couldn’t understand a word they were saying. I was frustrated because the guy I was talking to was getting frustrated that I couldn’t understand him. He kept raising his voice at me and asking for my credit card number. i was NOT giving him my credit card number because I had no idea what he was saying!
I called a local computer company today about this same computer and they told me I need to get a whole new motherboard to replace the little piece that you plug the computer in to charge (that is what broke.) They said it would be very costly ($400-$500) and I would be better off purchasing a new laptop.
I just purchased a new laptop on Valentine’s Day. It was going to be my laptop and the kids were going to continue to use the other one. I received the new laptop a week ago. Last night I was trying to work on my laptop and it froze. I had to manually shut it off. From then on I have not been able to get it to log onto windows. I called Dell today. I was on the phone with them FOREVER, but I got a very nice tech support guy, who was very patient and talked slower so I could understand him. We ran some tests on my computer and they concluded that it had a bad hard drive. I JUST BOUGHT IT! Good news is that they are sending a technician out overnight to fix it and I don’t have to pay for it.
Do you know how much they wanted to charge me for a “software only” warranty? $350!!!! I told them to forget it because I can buy a new laptop for that! Anyways, I will not be putting any new reviews/giveaways up today. I had hoped to, but I am stuck using the boys’ desktop which doesn’t have any of my photos or anything I have saved. I am sure I will lose them all on my other computer, but I just assume upload them again on my computer rather than the boys.
