Make a Difference…

I am contacted daily from PR as well as others wanting articles and similar things posted on my site. I couldn’t possibly post everything that comes my way, however after watching the video attached to this email that I received and reading the story I felt that I needed to post this for all to see. 

These little girls have come a long way and have worked very hard to make a difference, not only in their community, but all over! I think you all will be impressed by their story. I know I will be voting for them! (Will you?)

I am a Mom on a nationwide community service mission with my 9- and 10-year old daughters and their friends to find out just what can happen when you take an idea and run with it—especially when that idea has a potential to make a positive difference in communities nationwide!

We call our mission The United States of Community Service (USCS) Make a Difference Day Almost-Sleepover (www.uscsnow.org)—a nationwide PJ party with a purpose, getting kids involved in and excited about community service and empowering them to make a difference in communities from coast to coast and everywhere in between, to celebrate Make a Difference Day (our country’s largest day of service).

In less than one year’s time, our little-project-that-could grew from 7 girls and an idea in Guilford, Connecticut, to 1,200 kids in 26 states making a difference in 38 communities for more than 100 charities nationwide.

Last year, our local project that started it all won a National Make a Difference Day Award and $10,000 from Newman’s Own.

HERE’S THE SCOOP: Starting February 15 and continuing through February 29th, our project will be part of a nationwide online vote at www.makeadifferenceday.com to determine the winner of the 2012 Make a Difference Day All-Star Award from USA WEEKEND magazine and $10,000 for charity from Gannett Foundation!
