A special thanks to Family Christian for providing this book for review.
If there’s one thing that my friends and family definitely know about me, it’s my love for coffee. I wasn’t always that way though. Growing up I would try to sneak a sip of my mother’s coffee, only to spat it into the sink and wish I’d never given it the chance to touch my tongue. I thought it was bitter and disgusting and I could never imagine why anyone would want to sit and drink the dark dirt—especially more than one cup! Today, here I sit, typing a blog entry with a hot steaming cup by my side. I don’t know what changed my taste buds, but I don’t go a day without my coffee.
When the book, Miracle at the Higher Grounds Cafe by Max Lucado arrived on my doorstep I was intrigued. My coffee loving self couldn’t wait to read a book with such a title. I don’t want to completely spoil the book, but I do want to tell you a little more about it.
The book’s main character, Chelsea Chambers has been through a lot and she’s sort of living in confusion. While she thinks she knows exactly what she wants, there are bumps and twists in the road ahead. Life can get that way though, right?
It all starts when Chelsea and her husband (NFL superstar) separate. Chelsea leaves home and ends up taking over the cafe that has been in her family for years. Little does she know, there are going to be a lot of obstacles in her way. She isn’t going to be able to wake up every day, make a few cups of cappuccino and have customers lined up at the door….or is she?
One day a couple of strangers pops in (just at the right moment when Chelsea is unsure how she’s going to keep it all together) and they offer to hook up internet connection. Chelsea can’t afford it, but when they mention it is a free 3 month trial she agrees. Little did Chelsea know that this internet connect would connect customers to more than just cyber space. Now customers were flocking in from all over to connect to the divine. Everyone had a question and they wanted an answer.
I was so impressed with the book that I couldn’t put it down! I finished it in just 2 days, and if you know me, you know this is crazy because I am SO busy right now! I definitely recommend everyone go out and get a copy of Miracle at the Higher Grounds Cafe by Max Lucado.
