I got my shower a little later today. My oldest has been taking his showers in the morning lately. He has been wanting to let his hair grow out and it is getting pretty curly, so when he wakes up in the morning it is all over the place. He has a mini-fro. It’s pretty funny to see him first thing in the morning. I really wish I had a pic to share, but I don’t. This morning he took an extra long time in the shower and I had to get our Kindergartner ready for school as well. I was hoping the baby would sleep a little while longer so I could hop in the shower before my hubby left for work, but that never happens when I want it to.
So, after the two older boys got on the bus and I had our 4 year old all fed and settled down in front of the tv watching his morning cartoons I decided to strap the baby into a seat in the bathroom with me (if I don’t strap him down he is into Everything!) and I got my shower. As I’m in there rushing to get my shower as fast as possible because everyone knows you don’t leave a 4 year old unattended for long, or a baby strapped into a seat for long, I hear that bathroom door open. I figured it was just our little guy coming in to use the restroom or sit in the bathroom while he waited for me to be done, so I greeting him as he entered. I was right, he was coming in to use the restroom. After giving me a little hello back he continues on with his business. A few seconds after I hear the potty flush I hear this…
4 Year Old: Mommy?
Me: Yes?
4 Year Old: The water might get a little hot when you are in there.
Me: It’s ok, I heard the potty flush, it won’t affect my water. (It did at the old house we lived at.)
4 Year Old: No Mommy, the water might get hot because my pee was hot!
Me: What? Your pee was hot?
4 Year Old: Yes, my pee was hot and since I peed in the potty and you are in the shower you might get hot.
Me: What do you mean I might get hot because your pee was hot?
4 Year Old: You know Mommy because the potty water has to go down the drain and since you have the shower on and the water is coming out of the shower sprayer you might get hot because my pee was hot.
Oh, makes perfect sense! Isn’t it funny how a 4 year old thinks? They always have their little wheels turning! Of course, I did explain to him that when he pees in the potty it does NOT come out the shower head in the shower. I think he understands now.
