Finding foods to pack in my boys’ lunch boxes every day can be a challenge. They don’t want the same old stuff every day, and I don’t blame them, and that is why I try to switch things up a bit. While I want their school lunches to be healthy, I would like to have a little fun with it as well, and that is why I was happy to be reviewing Crunch Pak salad kits.
Crunch Pak recently introduced their new line of fresh salad side dishes called Salad Kitz. They come in two flavors, Tropical and Waldorf. We were familiar with Crunch Pak since we are already packing their sliced apples in our lunches, but this was something new, something exciting! Now for the review part…
A couple of my boys did not care for the dressing that came in the salad kits, while the others liked the dressing (it really is a personal choice, so you will have to just try it and decide if you like it or not). The good news is that the dressing is not mixed in, so if you do not like the dressing, you don’t have to add it to the salads. Every one of my boys enjoyed the salads and they are already asking me to go to the store to purchase more!
The Tropical Salad Kitz is made with sweet and tart diced apples, pineapple, mango, papaya and pecans. There is a creamy dressing that you may or may not want to add to the salad (depending on your taste preferences).
The Waldorf salad is made with dried cranberries, candied walnuts and pecans. There is also a dressing for this salad as well. My favorite was the Waldorf salad, however I ate it without the dressing. We are a picky family when it comes to dressings.
Each of these salads will serve four people and are very simple to throw together—my younger boys were even able to do it! Simply toss and enjoy!
