These days people are getting rid of their home phones. I think everyone figures it is pointless to have a home phone because the costs are so high. I’ll be honest, when we decided to start cutting back on things, we never considered our cable, but immediately considered getting rid of the home phone. There are a couple of reasons we didn’t want to get rid of the home phone though.

Reasons to keep the home phone:

1.) Our kids have the # memorized. -This might not sound like a good reason, but when asked in school what their number is, this is the number my children give. Plus, if they ever have an emergency, they can give this number.

2.) If I am not at home and the boys have a sitter that does not have a cell phone, there will be no phone in the home in case of an emergency, or for me to call and check up.

3.) Everyone has the home phone number

4.) If I get rid of the home phone I will have to pay for more cell phone minutes, so am I really saving money?
