My mother is my hero. She is the person I look up to more than anyone in my life and I am so happy to have a mother as wonderful as she is. I’m not sure I have ever told you about my mother, but I’m going to take the time to do that today.
Samsung Home is taking the time to celebrate Women of Steel. What is a woman of steel, you ask? A woman of steel is all of the women in our lives who seem to be able to do it all! Visit Samsung Home Appliances on Facebook to learn more about the contest and to nominate a woman in your life who inspires you for a chance at a premium dinner-party experience and a kitchen suite, courtesy of Samsung.
Now, I can tell you that as a Mom of 5 I sometimes wonder how I get done half of what I do, but I’ve got to tell you that my mother is an even stronger woman than what I could ever be. She’s a rock for my sisters and I and she holds the roots of our family tree together. (We love you Mom!)
I was not a planned pregnancy and my Mom could have freaked and ran from the responsibility, however she chose to be my mother and raise me the best she could. My mother and father were married at a young age. They conceived 3 girls (I have all boys, but I definitely know what it’s like to live in a house full of girls—yikes, sorry Mom!) My Dad was in the navy for a bit, so my Mom packed everything up and moved to another state, away from her family. When I was still pretty young my parents divorced and my Mom, once again, picked herself up and carried on. She could have given in, she could have run, but she chose to work harder and support and raise the family she had. She was a great Mom.
Fast forward years later…My mother had remarried and our stepfather was a wonderful man. He was always there when any of us needed him and he was a great dad. At the age of 43 my stepfather passed away…heart attack. It was so hard on all of us, but my Mom…I honestly wasn’t sure how she would ever get through this. How was my Mom going to be the rock that we once knew? How would she pick herself up this time?
She did. She grieved, but she was always there when we needed her and she was always there whenever others needed her. She has always had such a kind heart and has given others things that she didn’t even have to give. (I mean that if she had $10 left to her name and you told her you needed lunch money, she’d give you her last $10 without even thinking twice about it). I have never met a person that had a bigger heart than my Mom. This is why I want to nominate my MOM as the Woman of Steel in my life.
I think this is reason to celebrate! What better way to celebrate than with CHOCOLATE!
Check out this delicious and super easy Chocolate Dessert Recipe that we enjoy celebrating with!
This recipe is super easy to make! Simply mix and bake a box of chocolate brownies. Once the brownies are cool crumble them into a dessert dish (like the one in the photo above, or a small bowl), top with chocolate ice cream, Coolwhip and drizzle caramel and chocolate syrup on top. Enjoy!
