Owning a Home…

As I stated a couple of days ago, we recently purchased an investment property. This is something that my husband and I have been wanting to do for years now. It always seemed like we would get close, and I mean real close, and then we would get cold feet and back out. That seems to happen to people a lot in life. Sometimes things that we aren’t accustomed to and things that are new scare us. We decided this year that we were going to overcome this fear and jump in feet first! We did just that. 

After doing the research and studying up on things they weren’t quite as scary as I once thought they were. I now understand the difference between loans such as a VA loan and a Conventional loan. You wouldn’t believe all of the different types of loans that are available. We ended up getting a loan that allowed us to borrow the extra money we needed to fix our investment property up. It worked out great because we didn’t have to come up with that extra money right away. 

Our boys have been learning things along the way as well. Not only are they learning to strip wallpaper, peel up tile, paint walls and hang drywall, but they are learning how the business part works. We are trying to include them in all of our planning and are making sure that they understand how the business works. Ok, to a certain extent. Obviously they aren’t involved in all of the decision making and planning, but we are letting them help with as much as we can. They love it and I love it! I love the extra family time and that everyone is all together and enjoying each others’ company. It sounds like work, but we all enjoy it. 

As the boys get older I will try to instill more information into those fast learning little brains. For now we shall stick with the basics, but eventually I would love to teach them all about different types of loans and everything available to purchase a home.
