Dave Ramsey once said, “If someone depends on you or your income, you need life insurance,” and that really hit hard with me. Ramsey is always talking about ways to build wealth, save money and become financially free. He talks about how we want to set our future selves up for success, but why haven’t we been discussing life insurance, and setting our family up for when we are no longer able to take care of them? I think it’s because people don’t really like to think about insurance. Sure, we pay insurance for so many different things (our cars, homes, health and so forth), but why don’t we just take a moment to think about how our family will be if we aren’t here to provide for them.
Have you ever thought about that? Is your family going to be okay when you’re gone? If you were to become unable to work tomorrow, would your family be okay? My answer is…absolutely not. Not without insurance. We need that extra safety net to make sure that our family is taken care of. I love my family and I love what I do, but I’m not going to leave my family scrambling if I can no longer work or be here to provide for them. Did you know that they even offer plans for life insurance with no medical exam? I had no idea that was a thing until just recently.
You can start planning now for your future and the future of your family. I recommend starting with Dave Ramsey’s Debt Calculator, and then heading over to check out this article, What is Financial Planning? You might also like this article, Live for Today, Plan for Tomorrow.
