I recently came across a large selection of quick fix ideas. Most of the products used to fix the problems are things most of us already have in our home. Since I found the information so valuable myself, I felt like I had to share it with all of you.
-Have white walls with holes?
You can use white toothpaste to fill holes in the walls. The walls, of course, would need to be white for the toothpaste to blend in. I wouldn’t try using colored toothpaste!
-Removing scuff marks on Silverware, Leather shoes or Leather Furniture:
Wipe with the inside of a banana peel. (You may want to test a small section first.)
-How to clean your wallpaper:
White crustless bread can be rubbed onto wallpaper and will clean it!
-Have hard water?
(We do! I’m going to try this one! ) Make a paste using 1 tsp vinegar and 2 tablespoons of salt. Apply this mixture to the sink fixtures or where ever the lime build up is and rub away with a cloth.
This next one is one we do all of the time and it works great!
-Drain Cleaner:
Sprinkle 1/4 cup of baking soda into the drain, then 1 cup of vinegar. Let this sit in drain for about 15 minutes. Flush with a pot of boiling water.
-Want to protect your stovetop?
Rub a thin layer of car wax onto your stovetop and then wipe it off. The wax will make it so future spills lift off easily.
-Cracks and chips in white appliances?
Use white-out to cover these!
-Stainless steel need polished?
WD40! That’s right, simply rub and wipe away!
-Clean your washing machine:
Use the warm water setting and fill the machine, then add 2 cups white vinegar. Let it sit for an hour and then run the cycle.
-Naturally bleaching clothing
This one is simple and something our parents did often. Hang your whites outside! Saves money and works great!
-Clean Mirror and keep it fog free:
Use the foamy white shaving cream. Apply and wipe with a soft cloth.
We have also found that coffee filters do wonders when cleaning glass! For a streak free clean, you may want to try it out!
-Dusty blinds?
Use an antistatic spray on your blinds to keep the dust away.
-Antibacterial bathroom cleaner:
Full strength vinegar around the sink and tub, and then wipe clean with a cloth. Kills germs!
-How to clean silver jewelry
Use a soft toothbrush and a little toothpaste (preferably white) that contains baking soda. Rub the jewelry with the toothbrush and rinse.
-Sticky drawers?
If the drawers in your home are starting to stick rub the runners with a candle or bar of soap.
-Tarnishing Jewelry?
Place a piece of white chalk in your jewelry chest to absorb moisture and prevent tarnishing.
-Dusty Fans?
Place an old pillow case over fan blades, apply a little pressure and pull the pillow case off. All of the dust will stay in the case!
-Having troubles cleaning the bottom of your vase?
Put 3/4 hot water in the vase, add a teaspoon baking soda and shake. Let sit overnight.
-Easy way to store cords
Wind each cord back and forth and then insert into a toilet paper roll. You can even get creative and wrap the roll with wrapping paper or decorate for a fancier look!
-How to clean/dust house plants:
Wipe the leaves with the inside of a banana peel.
-How to remove oil-based pain from skin:
Dab extra virgin olive oil onto a rag and rub your skin.
-Weed Killer (without the harsh chemicals)
Spray cracks of sidewalk and weeds with vinegar.
-How to clean bbq grill:
Sprinkle dry baking soda on a damp brush, scrub and rinse.
