race day party planning

Our family loves to entertain, and not just for sporting events, but we do enjoy entertaining for those as well! We’ve discussed planning parties in the past, however today I thought we might talk about planning a party for Race Day. Living in a house full of males I’m accustomed to watching any and all sporting events on television. I’m also quite used to having friends and family members over to cheer on their favorite teams (or drivers) as well. So, let’s talk about how I go about planning a Race Day party!

The first 2 things I always suggest when planning a party is to pick a theme and a budget. These are the two key parts of your party planning. Since we already know our theme is Race Day, we can skip forward a bit.

I actually feel like planning a Race Day party is super simple compared to some of the other parties I have planned in the past. We know our theme, we know the date, now we just have to figure out the rest.

1.) Guest List– Since you have your budget set already, you can now start planning the guests that you would like to invite. Remember that there is a chance not everyone will make it to the party, however you always want to plan as if everyone were attending, so think about that when you plan your guest list.

2.) Location– We typically have our parties in our home, so I don’t have to think about location much, however if your home is small or you just don’t want to clean up the mess afterwards, you will want to plan the location of your party. Make sure you figure this into your budget if you are renting a space for the party.

3.) Time– While you pretty much already know when the race will begin, you will still want to plan a time for guests to arrive (and possibly a time for them to depart). We like to have guests arrive a little early so everyone can chat for a bit and get comfortable before the big race starts.

4.) Food & Drinks– This is probably the thing I spend the most time on when planning a party. I sometimes will have food catered in, but that can be pricey, so I typically make fun appetizers to serve at our parties. Ordering pizza is also another option that could feed a hungry bunch for less.

5.) First Aid– Okay, this may sound really weird to some, but I always plan on someone getting a head ache or a cramp or something. I know you might think this sounds crazy, but more times than none this actually happens. I like to have Advil Film-Coated handy since it’s fast acting with the new rapid release formula and it goes to work in minutes on tough pain*. You can use fast acting Advil® Film-Coated for headaches, muscle aches, toothaches, menstrual cramps, back pain, and aches and pains associated with the common cold, so it’s definitely great to have on hand at all times.

Side note: Since I’m all about savings, I wanted to share this Advil Film-Coated coupon with you. We were able to pick ours up at our local Wal-Mart store. We found it right away back in the pharmacy area. I’m going to post a photo so you can see the displays.

We hope you have the best race day ever!

Our family is super excited about the upcoming Ford Ecoboost 400 that will be held on November 20th in Miami!

A race day party would be fun! I’d love to plan more parties in my home to entertain friends. We have a local race track here so it would be fun to plan things around the races.

I love a good party, especially when everything runs smoothly due to being so well planned. We always make sure to have Advil on hand and find it extremely beneficial for those post party mornings!

I have never participated in a Race Day party. You gave some good tips and for any party i think a 1st aid kit would be necessary! Might get too worked up.

That’s smart to have an arrival and departure time. Ive tried departure specification but they never work, lol

I love all of these ideas. And party planning will bring on headaches for me, so having Advil on hand is great

You’ve thought of it all. I try to pack some first aid and pain relief too, whenever we’re having a get together away from home. You don’t want to end the fun because of something that could be easily treated.
