We have been remodeling our house since the day we bought it. Actually, we started remodeling before the house was even ours. You see, my Mom was the previous owner of our home, and before she owned it, her mother owned it (for over 30 years). The interesting part is that my Mom grew up in this house and actually had the same bus driver that my boys have! (No, he’s not like 90 years old either!)
When we first decided to purchase the house from my mother we knew there was a lot to be done to the house. First, the walls weren’t insulated and it was COLD in the winter. Second, the steps going upstairs were super steep and very wobbly/unsafe. We ripped the staircase out and remodeled the front half of the house (the downstairs). That was done before we ever even moved in. Once we had that done, we remodeled the upstairs. We have since moved on to the kitchen and are now in the process of remodeling our back living room (although that is taking time and we are just buying things as we can for that room).
You wouldn’t believe all of the decisions we have had to make when remodeling. The colors, carpets, furniture, lighting and all of the other decor. We have shopped all over and love finding a great deal.
While I love that we have done everything on our own (for the most part, we did hire a contractor to do a bit in the beginning), I still get somewhat tired and worn out and really wish sometimes that we could just hire an interior decorator to come in and take over! After all of the remodeling we have done, I’m beginning to think I should have taken a career in interior decorating.
The holidays are almost here, while our remodeling is still taking place I may be a little mia, however I am trying my best to bring you great giveaways and reviews up through the new year. Please know that while I may not be posting my regular updates, I am still here and still love hearing from you all. Please do not hesitate to email or leave a comment if you need anything at all (or just want to say hi!)
Our readers are the best and I do appreciate each and every one of you that take the time to stop by and read my blog.
Thank you from Mandee and Raising My 5 Sons Blog!
