We are once again getting ready to remodel the house. I know I said not long ago that the next project was going to be to finish out our master bathroom, but there is a project that needs attention much more than the master bathroom. The project is my KITCHEN!
I am so excited to be saying that we FINALLY broke down and ordered our kitchen cabinets…Woohoo!
I am sure that in about a month or so I am not going to be woohooing (Yes, I just made that a word, who cares if it really isn’t. It’s sort of like boohooing.) Anyway, for now I am excited!
I have been searching high and low for anything and everything that we are going to need during this remodel. If I can save a buck I am all about that! Frugal? Maybe, but with 4 boys and a baby on the way I really must be!
We are going to completely gut the kitchen.
The first thing hubby is going to do is to put a new roof on the kitchen. The old roof is tin and VERY old and not in good shape at all. We want to open the kitchen up to the peak and put a couple of skylights in (A lot of work, right?) I would like to get a nice ceiling fan to hang in the middle of the kitchen. I have been looking all over at Ceiling Fans, but I really like the one in the pic below.What do you think? This is a fan I found on Overstock.com
We have so much work ahead of us and my hubby seems to think he is going to have it all finished before the baby is here! Mind you, he travels a LOT for work right now!
I find myself having a lot of fun, but sort of getting overwhelmed sitting here looking at all of the different things that we are going to need. There is so much that goes into remodeling.
We ordered our 2 small appliances with the kitchen cabinets, but I still need to order my larger appliances to match the smaller appliances that we are getting. It’s ok though because those can wait.
I have been looking online for countertops and Faucets and stuff. There are so many different ones to choose from! Who would have known there were so m any choices of just Faucets!?
What do you all think of this faucet? I also found this faucet on Overstock.com. I didn’t realize how much stuff I could find on that site!
When I first saw it I was thinking I really liked it because it is different and sort of has the “old” feel. Our house is over 180 years old, so I like to keep a little of that in the house. However, do you think it is too different?
I am sure you are all going to be hearing about this project from time to time as it is going to be an ongoing thing that I am probably going to be stressing about for the next couple of months. I just hope that I’m not without a kitchen for too long, especially when the baby comes!
Boy am I glad that we bought our kitchen table and chairs a couple of years ago too. This is one less thing I have to worry about. I really dislike going to Furniture Stores and would much rather shop for furniture online ahead of time, print what I like and then take it to the store to see if they have something similar. I have actually purchased a few things online too, and have been pretty impressed especially since I saved money and didn’t have to deal with a pushy sales person that wanted to sell me the whole store!
While I have been browsing Overstock.com I have found a ton of other things that I like!
For instance their Area Rugs.
I have found several area rugs that I think would go great in our house. Maybe when we are finished with the kitchen remodel I can talk my hubby into purchasing some new decorations for the other parts of the house?
For now I think we will just stick with the kitchen.
