I feel that reading to and with your children is very important. Not only is it great bonding, but it also teaches them. We have pretty much been reading to our children since birth. I love when one of my little ones brings me a book, sits on my lap, and asks me to read the story to them. I have found over the years that changing up our library and adding new books really helps to keep them interested in reading.
We recently received some books from Schiffer Publishing, Ltd. My boys were so excited to rip open that package–it was like Christmas had come early! And I was super excited to see how excited they were….about books!
Some of the titles we received include:
Think Triangles!
Author Karen S. Robbins knows how to make learning fun with these lift the flaps books designed with shapes that reveal the hidden image underneath. Think! And then lift the flap to see. Teachers and parents can test children on colors, counting, size, differences, beginning reading, and comprehension. The Think Shapes! series will increase language and math skills, along with developing small motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Kids will have hours of fun playing with this interactive book. Ages 0–6.
Also check out Think Circles! and Think Squares!
Unraveling Rose
Unraveling Rose is the story of Rose, a stuffed bunny who loves having fun with the little boy she lives with, until she discovers a loose thread dangling from her arm, and it’s all she can think about. The story will help parents and teachers talk to children about what to do with obsessive thoughts.
Brian Wray has been writing professionally since 2003. He has written for Walt Disney Studios and earned both television producing and writing credits. Inspired by the bottomless imagination of his daughters, Brian focuses on storytelling for children.
Sticks N’ Stones N’ Dinosaur Bones
This book brings to life the infamous rivalry between Edward Drinker Cope and Othniel Charles Marsh, known today as the Bone Wars. Witty rhymes and wonderfully funny illustrations reveal how the paleontologists’ feud began and then spun absurdly out of control.
Author Ted Enik has worked as an illustrator for most of the well-known New York publishing houses, applying his versatility to both original art as well as classic and current children’s book characters, including The Magic School Bus.
G. F. Newland‘s doodles have made their way onto buttons, bags, posters, and T-shirts, and have been published by the likes of Scholastic, Hachette, and Pixel Mouse House.
Gruel Snarl Draws a Wild Zugthing
Gruel Snarl is driving his mom zonkers! Just an ordinary kid with an extraordinary imagination, but sometimes Gruel’s imagination runs wild. Travel to the other side of a ripple in space for a wild story that jumps right off the page.
