Today is the kick off of the “Buy One, Give One” Share-a-Haircut Program.
Hair Cuttery is the largest family owned and operated chain of hair salons in the country. They expect to donate more than 100,000 back-to-school haircuts during this year’s Share-a-Haircut program. That’s HUGE! The program has been going strong for 14 years and is the only one of its kind in the whole NATION. Since the program launched in 1999, Hair Cuttery has donated more than 700,000 haircuts to kids in needs.
Haircuts aren’t always something you think about when you think of those in need, however a haircut can really help your self esteem. As a matter of fact, a new survey from Hair Cuttery shows that a back-to-school haircut can impact a child’s academic performance.
Dennis Ratner, Founder and CEO of Hair Cuttery said, “Share-a-Haircut is about the ritual of preparing for a new school year. A new haircut symbolizes a new start and new possibilities. We want kids to associate feeling good about themselves with getting ready for back to school.”
When thinking about a haircut it might not seem like a huge cost, but when you add the cost up over a year, it can be huge for any family. This year Hair Cuttery is allowing visitors to donate via a blog widget (it’s in our sidebar, check it out—yes, they are tracking it and we are in a contest to see who can bring in the most free haircuts! Help us out!)
Be sure to follow Hair Cuttery on Facebook and Twitter (hashtag #shareahaircut) so you don’t miss out on anything!
