I think I will be happy when winter hits. Don’t get me wrong, I love summer, but with summer comes a lot of running around. I am happy to get out of the house and have something to do, but then there comes a time when I am ready to sit back, kick my feet up and relax. I don’t think I even remember what it’s like to read a good book. Oh how I miss that! One of these days…
So what have we been up to?
I have been taking photos.
We joined a new church in an adjoining town. It has been great for us. It’s a very small church, and everyone there is quite close. I think I can say we all trust one another. My boys love the contemporary music and the way that the scriptures are read and explained. Not only have I learned a lot in the little bit of time we have been going there, but my boys are now telling me bible stories and things that they have learned. I love that! Not long ago I was asked to be the church photographer. What a privilege that is for someone like me that is really just getting started in my photography career. (I have been taking photos for years, but have never had the confidence to move forward with it and make a profession of it. This has sort of got me thinking about photography more and moving in that direction.)
Last Saturday I did a photo shoot for a young couple that will be getting married next summer. It was a lot of fun and I think I snapped around 330 photos! Once I get to snapping it’s really hard to stop! I was pretty pleased with the photos and hope that the couple is just as happy with them. (Once I have permission from them I may share a few, given they are ok with it.)
Onto other things…
We have been in birthday mode again. We had one in May, two in July, one in August and now our oldest is going to turn 11 tomorrow! 11, where has the time gone? It feels like just the other day I was holding him in my arms singing lullabies to him. We had a birthday party for family a couple of weeks ago and this weekend he is having a sleepover with a bunch of his friends. This ought to be FUN! I think there will be about 11 boys here! (I say the more, the more fun!)
Around here we like to make up new recipes and eat things out of the norm.
We also like to try to make things similar to something we may have tasted in a restaurant.
One of our favorite Mexican restaurants serves a yummy appetizer that consists of jalapeno peppers that are stuffed with beef and cream cheese. (I’m not sure exactly what their recipe is, but ours tasted pretty similar and was very yummy!) The younger boys do not like jalapenos, so we stuffed banana peppers and small green peppers as well.
What is one of your favorite appetizer recipes?
