We try to visit the Pigeon Forge Tennessee area as often as we can. Truth be told, we would be there every week (or permanently) if we could! This was the first year we have ever been to the Smoky Mountain Opry. In all of our years visiting (15 years), I can not believe this was the first time we ever attended this show.
We arrived and were greeted by some of the friendliest staff ever! Seriously, when they say southern hospitality, they mean it! We were shown to our seats and sat for a couple of minutes before the show started. Once the show started we were entertained the ENTIRE time!
Let me tell you a little about The Smoky Mountain Opry, for those not familiar with it. The Smoky Mountain Opry is an awesome variety show! The show consists of some of the best singers, dancers, comedians, magicians, jugglers and incredible aerialists. Seriously, every time I saw the aerialists walk on stage I couldn’t wait for them to start performing—it was mesmerizing and beautiful! It’s not just about the performers though…the special effects were amazing as well! We saw Mary Poppins fly overheard (this was so cool!), there were tigers and lions, magic and fire…it was just an awesome awesome show!
When I asked everyone in the family what their favorite part of the show was they all had something different to say, but they all stated that they can’t wait to go back and loved every minute of the show! Our boys especially enjoyed the music and the magic! My favorite part of the show was the ending. That may sound weird (I surely did not want the show to end) however the ending was full of different types of music and I got to hear some gospel that brought me to tears! There were even people sitting next to us with the hands waving in the air! It truly was an awesome moment that I’m not likely to forget!
We can’t wait to get back to Pigeon Forge so we can visit the Smoky Mountain Opry again!

As a kid who grew up in Southern KY, the Smokies/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg were our vacation spots. I haven’t been there in a while, though. I’d love to go back & see this Opry! I’ll put it on my ‘to see list.’
