Do you ever worry about Staph infections or MRSA?
I was never real worried about it until I watched someone go through the pain and suffering that a Staph infection caused him.
A couple of years ago I had to spend some time in the ICU at a hospital because a family member had been in a horrible accident.
While visiting with my family member we got to know some of the other families in the waiting room. We we all there every day and eventually just started to talk.
The male member of their family that was in the ICU was fighting for his life because he had received a scrape on his arm at work (a fast food restaurant.) The male I believe was only in his early 30s.
It was so very sad to watch this man fight for his life only to be told the next day that it had spread even worse. The scrape on his arm, which most people would not even be concerned about, had gotten infected and turned into a very bad Staph Infection. In the end they had to remove the whole side of his body that had the scrape. I do not know if this male lived through all of this since my family member was transitioned to another part of the hospital, but I do believe that the last thing we were told was that he had a very slim chance.
Scary, right?
I had to share this story with you because before I experienced this I honestly didn’t think about treating every little cut or scrape. We all get cuts, right?
Not anymore! I always put some sort of antibiotic cream on my children when they get a cut. They are so used it that they tell me whenever they receive an “ouchie.”
