My boys love watching videos, however it is sometimes hard to find a video that will keep the attention of my youngest two for very long. Yesterday we received a new video in the mail for review, Start to Finish starring Whoops and Bubbs. I honestly had no expectations about the video and thought it would be something that I would pop in, they would watch for a couple of minutes and then they would be pulling at my pants leg wanting me to change the channel. (You know the drill, right?) The only thing is, I was wrong, so wrong. That’s right, they loved the video. I admit that I cleaned and exercised while they were watching the video. I know, terrible, terrible mom to actually get something done while her children vegged out in front of the television, however after watching the video with them the first time I was, well kind of bored. I’m sorry, I should never say anything negative about a product that keeps my child’s attention for more than 5 minutes. Who cares what I think though, right? I mean, my kids loved this video!
Now I have to add that our DVD player decided to quit working shortly before the video arrived, which left me no choice but to place the video into my laptop, push a chair up to my desk, and let the boys watch from my seat. Oh, they loved that! I think they felt BIG! (Not that they aren’t always climbing up into my chair trying to pound on my laptop keys to begin with.)
I would have to say after watching the video 4 times today that this video is going into our pile of videos worth watching and recommending to others.
I love that the video not only kept my child’s attention for more than 5 minutes, but it is educational too! This is the first unique series of DVD from Start to Finish Entertainment. Start to Finish Starring Whoops and Bubbs teaches children that everything in their world has a process: a beginning, middle and end.
The characters are so cute and FUN! Whoops is a kind, sensitive and often clumsy puppet type character that asks questions, helps out and learns as his best friend, Bubbs explains each Start to Finish episode. Together, the two help children feel confident asking questions as well as providing a little humor along the way. I caught my boys talking to the computer screen and laughing and pointing as they watched the video.
Each of the four episodes illustrate how things are made and how things are achieved. Through real-life footage from a dairy farm, a pizza parlor, a firehouse and an applesauce factory, children go on a virtual field trip to discover how milk is made, how pizza is created, how firefighters put out fires and how apples are made into applesauce.
While I can not guarantee with definite certainty that your child will love this video, I can say that if your child is anything like mine, they will be asking to steal your laptop so they can watch their “Whoopy” (as my boys call him) movie.
