Ok, we aren’t really storm chasers.
I’m too much of a baby to go out running around in a storm, however we did wait for it to completely calm down and then we headed to town to check out the damage. We were without power and thought maybe someplace in town might have power so we could get food, but they did not…sigh.
Here is how it all started…
I was babysitting today, so as usual there were 7 boys here. My husband was working and on his way home when the storms hit. I had gathered the children in the basement and was back and forth between the basement and the upstairs to see what was going on. The storm really came fast and it didn’t last more than maybe a half an hour, but it sure did do a lot of damage!
My husband comes running into the house as fast as he can! He’s telling me how he got stopped on the way home because there was part of a barn that literally flew out into the road and wrapped around a telephone pole! SCARY!
As we were being storm chasers…
We came across many trees that were uprooted from the ground or simply struck in half. This is one of the photos my son was able to snap while I was turning a corner.
We have a large trash bin in front of our house right now and there was trash all over our yard from the storms. The boys and I quickly picked it up as soon as the storms were over. The funny thing was that our neighbors chickens were walking around our front yard. My husband looked out the window and saw chickens! Our boys got a kick out of it and were excited to help get them safely back to their home.
I am just happy that no one (that we know of) was injured in the storms. There will be a lot of clean up that needs to be done, but it is times like these when people come together and help one another. Sometimes I feel like things have to happen to bring people together…maybe this is just one of those times.

I was driving down 127 when the storms were going. There was 3 trees all the way across the road, literally had to drive in the ditch! On youtube there is a video of a tornado over the lake. Its crazy!

Wow, that is something else. It is good when you have a place to be safe inside the home, for people like your husband driving and a vicious storms comes up out of nowhere, it is really scary. Glad you all came out of it safe and sound.
