It’s not often that the whole family can sit down together to watch a movie, let alone leave the room feeling like they heard an amazing message and like you just want to go out and do something great to help others. That is exactly how we felt after watching the movie Uncommon.
I’d like to explain a little about the movie, without spoiling it for you.
Aaron Chase is the main star. He has to leave his current school after a horrible school shooting. Without saying too much, I’ll just say that he’s left feeling broken and confused. After meeting a teacher that is pretty adamant that religion and school do not mix, Aaron decides that this needs to change and he puts together flyers for a bible study on school grounds. Of course, the teacher does not approve.
Budget cuts are made in the school and the theater department has to be discontinued. There are students that have college scholarships riding on the line and so Aaron sets out to help save the theater department, but it’s not without a struggle.
As students work together to fight for their freedom and what they believe in those around them learn valuable lessons as well.
This really was a great movie that had me in tears many times. I felt so tied into the story line and wished the movie hadn’t ended so soon when it was over.
