My husband and I feel that it is very important that we teach our children to pray. The truth is that both of us have struggled with prayer and we realize the importance of teaching our children to be comfortable praying–even out loud in front of others. We received a copy of Max Lucado’s Treasury of Bedtime Prayers and were happy to read it aloud to our boys.
Our boys really enjoy having stories read to them before bed. Our typical bedtime routine consists of a story, some snuggles and a prayer to our Father. The Treasury of Bedtime Prayers was a fun addition to our normal bedtime routine. It didn’t take long for our boys to start asking for their “big blue book of prayers” before bed. It has sort of become a part of our bedtime routine and our boys quite enjoy listening to the short stories/prayers.
Teaching my children how to talk to God and that it’s okay (and wonderful) to talk to God in front of others and in private is very important to me. The Treasury of Bedtime Prayers was filled with classic prayers as well as new prayers that were written by Max Lucado and his wife, Denalyn.
In the beginning of the book there is a little introduction that sort of tells parents how to teach their children to pray. I think this is so very neat, especially for those that are somewhat new to prayer themselves. I’m thinking this book would make a great gift, and I already have a few friends in mind that might love to read this with their children!
You may remember my review of Max Lucado’s book, Before Amen? This book, while not the same, is sort of a book of prayers for little ones. It’s a great way to get them started on their journey as a child of God. It’s never too early to start your child on a prayer life with God.
We talk to our father and mother on earth every day, right? We wouldn’t our heavenly Father want to hear from us?

Max Lucado writes very good inspirational books for adults and children! This book looks like a good one to teach children how to pray. I know that when I pray-I always feel better and it gives me so much peace!

It definitely is a great book for teaching little ones to pray! I agree, prayer is so powerful and it can really change a situation in a hurry. We just need to remind ourselves to stop trying to deal with things on our own and turn to the Father when we are in need. How simple it is, yet so many times we take it for granted. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
